Governor Newsom signs new bill regarding rent increases and “Just Cause” evictions

On October 8, 2019, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 1482 into law. This bill places limitations on Landlords concerning the amount or percentage that rents can be raised. It also sets parameters for “Just Cause” evictions and in some cases provides for tenant relocation assistance. While this law applies to many California rental property owners, there are some exemptions.
